History

Mr. Toney

In January 1964 the Spring Hope facility was licensed and opened for business. It provided an up-to-date beautiful efficient and spacious home for the care of the deceased, and comfort for the families.

The expertise of William T. Toney, Sr. along with his God given talent in restorative art, earned him a place among the best in the business. He was a man of compassion and understanding who reached out to help everyone. In 1969 his wife, Helen Mills Toney, left the classroom and joined him in the business. He instilled in his associates and employees, the importance and necessity of rendering an impeccable service to everyone he was called to serve.

In 1968 the facility in Zebulon was built. As time passed, the homes were enlarged and up-graded to meet the needs and comfort of the people.

At his death in May of 1997, his daughter, Jennis Toney, assumed his position as President and Manager. Her mother, Helen Mills Toney, continued working with her as Secretary/Treasurer of the Corporation.

Today, under the management of Jennis Toney-Carpenter, William Toney’s Funeral Home has maintained the same high standards and quality service, which was her father’s legacy.

The funeral home observed its 40th year in business in 2004, looking back with great humility and looking forward with great anticipation. The efficient staff members are ready to serve with honor and dignity, giving the utmost respect and consideration for those we serve.
